From start to finish they were able to do a still life, that was assigned for each class. WEEK 1: Each class was taught about the importance of geometry in art. When planning a painting, artists have to sketch their idea, this way they learn what proportions they will need to use, colors, dimensions... WEEK2: Our students were able to start sketching a simple vase with their art instructor, step by step. This way, they will have some type of guidance when preparing for their final sketching of a still life that they will be doing alone. There are three rules of composition in art: Rule of thirds, the golden ratio, and the golden triangle. The Rule of Thirds:Its the idea that our brains tend to get excited by things that are not in the center of an image. The Golden Ratio:It's applied to a subject when the shapes generated by the sequence are used and an underlaying structure for the alignment of the compositional elements. The Golden Triangle: Is a composition standard that divides a composition into four right triangles. The excitement was palpable as they discovered the power of primary colors—red, blue, and yellow—and how these can be mixed to form a wide spectrum of secondary and tertiary colors. This experiment not only enhanced their technical skills but also sparked a newfound appreciation for the complexity and beauty of color.Mrs. Tiffany's guidance was instrumental in helping students understand the delicate balance of water and pigment. She encouraged them to experiment freely, reminding them that there are no mistakes in art—only opportunities to learn and grow. This philosophy resonated deeply with our students, who embraced the challenge of creating their own unique color palettes. In addition to our focus on color theory, we also introduced our students to the work of Wassily Kandinsky, a renowned artist who famously connected colors with music.
