Is Sketching Actually Important?

Artists throughout centuries always planned their art works, by doing this they would obtain an idea in their heads of how their work would look like. Using colors, blending, imagination, creativity etc... This process shouldn't take more than 1 hour. These sketches are just idea that pop up into an artist's mind. Priscilla & Tiffany's Art Academy, a studio that has been teaching young artists for more than a decade, has always prioritize sketching in each class. Taking 15 minutes of the student's class time to learn about art, or usually sketch still lives. A simple sketch can make your idea come to life.

What Does Our Art Studio Teach Young Artists About Sketching?

As said above, our studio prioritizes sketching the first 15 minutes of each class. This month of June, we will be teaching our students "What is Sketching?", "Why Is Your Imagination Important?", "What Do You See?" and "Sketching a vase". These topics will be introduced and explained to our students throughout the 4 weeks of June. Each headline has its own explanation. For instance, week one students will be introduced about what sketching is. This week, they will be learning specifically about how to plan a sketch, and why is practicing colors, composition, values and ideas important in the process of their sketching.

An artist imagination is what expresses and creates the art they want to make. Inside our studio for kids and teens, we provide still life stations that go with the season/topic of the month. As an art studio made by artists for artists we know the exact decoration, lighting and colors that will inspire the young artists that come to our magical studio. We also encourage our students to take part of the inspiration around them but to use their imagination while sketching. We have seen immense process of decision making of students that have been part of our art academy for years.
