Collaboration and Installations:

Updated: Mar 21, 2019

What is an installation and what does it have to do with collaboration?

Installation art is an artistic genre of three-dimensional works that often are site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space. Our students were able to witness the process of this style of art firsthand. Our dedicated teachers and art director worked diligently on completing this installation on the wall of our entrance space. Watching the installation unfold was captivating because of the artistic collaboration! Everyone involved added their perspective and individual artistic style while still working to one common goal. Not all installation are made through a collective effort some may just involve one artist but we had the great honor of combining the talents of all of our Priscilla & Tiffany's educators!

Tip:

What better way to learn about installations then by doing!

After watching the process unfold before their eyes it was now the students turn to create their very own installation.

Our student artists engaged in their very own installation and collaboration experience.

Providing them the opportunity to work with their hands and to express collective individuality!

These paintings the students completed were later wrapped around box's and made into a site specific installation piece.

Some installation artist to look into:

  1. Donald Judd

  2. Yayoi Kusama

  3. Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude

  4. Louise Bourgeois
